Welcome to MacTaggart
Private, luxury neighbourhood in the Terwillegar area.
Mactaggart is one of the most sought-after luxury neighbourhoods in southwest Edmonton. This private enclave is located between Rabbit Hill Road and Whitemud Creek Ravine, just by the Magrath Heights neighbourhood.
Mactaggart architecture is primarily single-family homes in a wide range of styles, but there are also several high-end condos for those wanting a more minimalist lifestyle.
This area was initially designed as one of the seven sections of the Terwilleger Heights development but has emerged as a highly prized location in its own right.
What to Love
- Luxurious custom-built homes in a secluded neighbourhood
- Highly walkable, also great for cyclists
- Exclusive feel to the community
MacTaggart residents primarily work in the metro area of Edmonton, although recently, many have embraced the remote work concept. Eschewing the commute to downtown Edmonton gives you the flexibility to enjoy all the outdoor amenities the area has to offer. When you're not driving into the office, you can spend that time walking the dogs, cycling, or gardening before your meetings begin.
Dining, Entertainment, & Shopping
If you want a special night out, XIX Nineteen is definitely the right place. Their chef is classically trained in European cuisine and has competed with great success at the Swiss Culinary Cup. XIX Nineteen isn't just for dinner; they also have a great brunch menu, and it's a hot spot for Happy Hour.
XO Bistro is the go-to place to satisfy that craving for Asian fare with a Vietnamese twist. They specialize in homestyle cooking, such as banh mi, noodle soups, grilled meats, and spring rolls.
If it’s Italian fare you seek, Love Pizza is a casual spot for fast slices of pizza. When you're on the go, you can order through their app.
Just down the block is Freson Bros, Fresh Market. Originally a butcher, this local gourmet shop is now focused on providing MacTaggart residents with the best in local produce, baked goods, and specialty foods. They'll also cater when you entertain.
Things to Do
MacTaggart Sanctuary is a hidden gem on the south side of 23rd Avenue. The parking lot is unmarked, but when you park the car and find the river valley at the fork of Whitemud and Blackmud Creeks, you're met with hiking trails that challenge any level. It's so preserved in its natural state that tree roots serve as staircases. Along your walk, you'll likely meet birders and fellow hikers or the occasional owl or lynx.
The MacTaggart schools are part of the greater Edmonton school system.
